Wow, what a busy Christmas and New Year we have had, it was going to be a quiet one but with 10 horses and ponies in work, that was never going to happen! We have been very lucky with no snow here, so the horses haven’t had to have a forced holiday.
I have been offered the exciting opportunity to ride a new gelding and a mare. Felix and Jewel are owned and bred by Tracy and Laura Milner of Merlin Equestrian.
Felix is a Jazz x Ferro gelding with the most fantastic nature, he has been given time to mature so will be coming out competing later this year.
Jewel is four this year by Belissimo M, so will be aimed at the young horse classes later in the year.
I am also pleased to announce, I will be competing and training another stallion this year, owned by Phyllis O’Connell, another home bred who is just starting out in his dressage career.
Over the last few weeks I have been concentrating on training all of the horses and ponies ready for the regionals in a few weeks’ time. Cadans and Bodyguard are both competing against each other in the Advanced Medium restricted and the Advanced Medium music and Amigo is in the Elementary, so fingers crossed, in my next blog I will hopefully have lots of good news to tell you and be planning for the nationals in April.
I am very excited to have been asked by Henry Boswell to participate in some training videos that he is producing with up and coming riders, working on their own horses. This has been pencilled in to take place in a couple weeks, so hopefully whichever one of my boys I decide to take, they will do me proud and perform for the camera!
I have been planning on when I can stand Cyden Cadans M and Cyden Bodyguard Moorland in 2015 at Stallion AI Services, near Whitchurch. Due to their busy competition schedule this year, it looks like it will be at the end of July into August, allowing them time to do a couple of the Premier League Shows and also the regionals. Although Amigo is not standing at stud this year he is still available, just via frozen semen.
For anyone interested in coming to see the Cyden Stallions, we are holding an open day towards the end of March. Keep an eye on the Cyden Dressage website and Facebook page for confirmation of the date, it would be great to see lots of dressage enthusiast there.
